Hi, I’m Kat, and this little corner of the internet is where farm life, family life, and a little bit of chaos all come together.
By day, I serve as the Director of Emergency Management for a Tribal reservation, helping prepare and protect our community from the unexpected. My husband works in law enforcement, the steady and level-headed half of our team. By night and early mornings and weekends and sometimes lunch breaks, we are farmers, parents, and dreamers building something meaningful together.
We are raising two kids who are growing up surrounded by animals and open fields. Our older daughter is autistic and lives with Type 1 Diabetes. She is resilient, funny, and teaches us every day about strength, patience, and joy. Her younger sibling is right in the mix too, feeding sheep, chasing ducks, and reminding us that farm life is just as much about play as it is about chores.
Our farm is home to a flock of Babydoll Southdown sheep, a handful of goats, elegant Silver Fox rabbits, plus ducks, turkeys, and whatever other critters we cannot seem to say no to. And yes, we are lucky enough to have a barn that feels Pinterest worthy, the kind of place that holds both beauty and the messiness of daily life.
Life here is equal parts peaceful and unhinged. Some days it is coffee on the porch at sunrise, and other days it is chasing a stubborn ewe in work clothes with dinner burning on the stove.
This blog is where I share it all, stories about the flock, honest takes on balancing careers with farm chores, recipes from the homestead kitchen, and reflections on what it means to romanticize everyday life.
If you are here, welcome to our little farmstead family. We hope you will feel at home.
